AXA SUPPORTS 94 RESEARCH PROJECTS WORLDWIDE ON NATURAL HAZARDS

  • As of today, the AXA Research Fund has committed close to €22 million to 94 fundamental research projects related to Natural Hazards and Climate Change.
  • In 2013 and 2014 for example, new Disaster Risk Reduction research themes tackled coastal risks, volcanology and communities’ resilience.

THE AXA RESEARCH FUND: AT THE FOREFRONT OF ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE ON RISKS Protection is at the core of an insurer’s mission, therefore the need to understand and prepare for the major transformations affecting our world is essential for AXA. Climate change is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges ahead, impacting people, resources and infrastructure. In keeping with the belief that today’s science will help provide better protection tomorrow, the AXA Research Fund, the science philanthropy initiative of the insurance leader AXA, aims to boost independent academic progress and discoveries on environmental, life and socio-economic risks. By 2018, € 200 million will have been committed.
This approach is innovative because it nurtures long-term partnerships with leading academic institutions around the world, promotes discussions between scientists and civil society, and aims to share the research findings, notably on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Risks, with as many people as possible.
